Racing version of Aston Martin's most extreme hypercar, the Valkyrie, unveiled for the first time

Aston Martin's highly-anticipated Valkyrie is set to make its racetrack debut at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours race on 14-15 June 2025. This historic moment marks a key milestone in Aston Martin's motor racing heritage, as the British automaker aims to replicate the glorious achievement of 1959, when the Aston Martin DBR1 won the race.

The Valkyrie cars will make their debut earlier in the year at the opening round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC), the Qatar 1812km on 28 February. The car, designed to translate a pure racing car into road-going form, will be run by the Aston Martin THOR Team.

Adrian Newey, the renowned designer behind the Valkyrie, will have a unique viewpoint to see the car he initiated take to the track at Le Mans. Newey, who is also returning to Aston Martin as the managing technical partner of the Formula 1 team this summer, was instrumental in the design of the Valkyrie, ensuring a unique power-to-weight ratio.

The down-tuning of the Valkyrie's power output caters to the power limit set for the race series, while also benefiting fuel efficiency and reliability, crucial factors in endurance racing. The Valkyrie's bodywork boasts massive aero packs, adding colossal downforce and improving access to components and safety.

The Aston Martin THOR Team will also participate in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis participating in the IMSA GTP challenge in North America. The WEC driver line-up for Aston Martin includes Tom Gamble, Harry Tincknell, Marco Sørensen, and Alex Riberas.

Aston Martin's new CEO, Adrian Hallmark, announced that Aston Martin aims to secure an overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025. Hallmark stresses that returning to the fight for overall honors at the 24 Hours of Le Mans exists at the core of Aston Martin's values. Aston Martin will report from Le Mans in June.

Ross Gunn will also share the #007 car for the assault on Le Mans in June. The Valkyrie features a rapid refuelling system, hydraulic jack point, and revised suspension, all designed to optimise performance on the challenging Le Mans circuit.

The Valkyrie's debut at Le Mans will undoubtedly be a significant moment in Aston Martin's racing history, as the automaker strives for success in the world of endurance racing. Stay tuned for updates from Le Mans in June.
