Racing prodigy from Saarbrücken excels in Cologne races - snagging two victories in premier competitions

The rowing season 2025 is in full swing, with numerous victories being recorded by German rowers across various regattas.

In the junior regatta held in Cologne, the rowing society Undine from Saarbrücken achieved a remarkable twelve victories. Aurel Russ and Dylan Hild triumphed together in the double sculls, with Aurel also claiming victory in the single sculls event. Anneke Ihmann and Livia Wolff won the lightweight double sculls of U19, while Maya Steimer and Antonia Mayer from Essen took the title in the same category. Fabrice Rhein added another win to the club's tally, securing the U17 single sculls title.

Meanwhile, the young talents from the RG Undine are gearing up for the upcoming regatta in Saarburg this coming weekend.

At the European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, the German Rowing Association will be well-represented. The women's eight boat will compete from May 29 to June 1, with the preliminary rounds beginning at 15:09. The final for the European Rowing Championships is scheduled for June 1 at 11:45.

In the single sculls event, Fritz Mönch (U19) has already secured a win, while Paula Gerundt is preparing for her participation. In the women's quadruple sculls, notable rowers include Pia Greiten, Sarah Wibberenz, Frauke Hundeling, and Lisa Gutfleisch. The quartet Ihmann/Wolff/Steimer/Mayer also won the double sculls event in Plovdiv.

Eight nations, including Olympic champions Romania, Great Britain, and the Netherlands, will participate in the European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv. Among the notable participants is Kathrin Marchand, who won gold in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls for Para-Rowing at the 2025 European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv.

As the rowing season continues, the successes of German rowers both in Cologne and Plovdiv serve as a testament to their hard work and dedication. With the European Rowing Championships on the horizon, expectations are high for more victories and impressive performances.
