British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships 2025: Registration Closes, Preparations Intensify

The countdown is on for the British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships 2025, set to take place at the picturesque Bournemouth Beach in Dorset from 30-31 August. Registration for the event closed at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, 20 August, with entries no longer being accepted.

The event, which serves as a training ground for the upcoming European Championships and World Finals, has attracted a significant number of participants, including members of the British Team. Tom Pattichis, Olympic Head Coach for Beach Sprints, expressed his excitement about the Championships taking place in Bournemouth, stating, "This is a significant event for us, as we prepare our athletes for the upcoming European Championships and World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, and we're thrilled to be hosting it in Bournemouth."

The Championships cater to a wide range of age groups and abilities, with categories including Juniors (J16), Students, Seniors, Masters, and mixed crews. Boats are provided by the organisers, but competitors must bring their own blades or contact British Rowing if needed.

For those who missed the registration deadline, there are still options to participate. You can contact British Rowing to check if any withdrawals open places, or start planning for next year’s championships as this year’s registrations are now closed.

New additions to this year's event include events for J16 rowers and Masters rowers, the introduction of Mixed Challenge quads, and the online streaming of the event for the first time. The Mixed Challenge quads allow individuals to enter a crew or just a seat to be drawn into a crew.

Spectators are encouraged to come and watch the event, with full timings to be published before the competition. The British Team, which includes athletes on the Olympic pathway, will be aiming to make history by becoming the first individuals to represent Great Britain at an Olympic Beach Sprint Championships when the discipline makes its Olympic debut in 2028 at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships 2025 is set to be the biggest edition of the event to date, taking place at the award-winning beach of Bournemouth. For more information, you can visit British Rowing’s official event pages or contact them directly at [email protected]
