Racing Jockey Hollie Doyle Present in Hong Kong
Top Female Jockey Hollie Doyle Heads to Hong Kong for Next Racing Season
Hollie Doyle, the world's top female jockey, is set to embark on a new adventure as she prepares to ride in the Far East from November 5 to December 23, 2025. The Hong Kong Jockey Club has granted Doyle a license to ride at its racetracks, Sha Tin and Happy Valley.
Doyle has had a tough season with a constant rollercoaster of highs and lows, without a top horse and with some hurdles along the way. However, she remains optimistic about the future and is eager to seize the opportunities presented in Hong Kong.
"This year is the right time for me to give Hong Kong a try," Doyle said in a statement. She added that she is excited to try something new and believes the change will do her good.
Doyle has previously had a brief racing experience at Hong Kong racetracks and has participated in the International Jockey Championship for several years. She aims to reach 100 winners this year before heading to Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has also granted licenses to jockeys Richard Kingscote, David Probert, and Maxim Guyon. Besides Doyle, the club issued short-term licenses to Maxime Guyon and Dylan Browne McMonagle for riding in Hong Kong during the same period. James McDonald also received a license but only from November 12 to December 23, while Browne McMonagle’s license starts on January 1, 2026.
Doyle's decision to head to Hong Kong comes after the agreement with owner Imad Al Sagar, who hired Doyle as his first-choice jockey for the Blue Diamond Stud, was terminated. Irish jockey Oisin Murphy has taken over the role from Doyle.
Despite the challenges she has faced this year, Doyle is looking forward to the next racing season and is not getting her hopes up about riding with a short-term license in Hong Kong. She wants to keep her options open for the future and does not rule out staying longer in the East.
Doyle's loss of the Group 1 horses Bradsell and Trueshan this year, with Trueshan unfortunately passing away at the Glorious Goodwood meeting in July, has not deterred her from pursuing her goals. She aims to reach 100 winners this year before heading to Hong Kong and hopes to make the most of the opportunities presented to her.
