RCA Showcase Awards 2025: Newbury Crowned Dual-Purpose Winner

The racing industry gathered in York on November 13, 2025, for the prestigious RCA Showcase Awards. Among the honours, the Berkshire track, Newbury, was named the dual-purpose winner of the year.

Newbury had a busy year, hosting racing every month and completing various projects between races. The team, both full-time and part-time, are proud to have received this recognition. The award was selected by an industry panel that included members of the Professional Jockeys Association, BHA, and National Trainers Federation.

George Hill, the clerk of the course at Newbury, received the award on behalf of his team. Newmarket was crowned the Flat winners, while Kelso landed the jumps category. Goodwood, Market Rasen, Newton Abbot, and Musselburgh were all presented as runners-up to the three categories.

The groundstaff champion title was also up for grabs, with Newbury, Newmarket, Kelso, and the York Raceway competing for the title. The winner will be announced at the event.

In addition to the track awards, individual recognitions were given out. Karl Coghlin of Haydock received the Special Merit award, while Andrew Malam of Bangor and Chester received the Neil Wyatt Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 40-plus years of dedication and hard work at the racecourses.

Daniel Haynes from Huntingdon was presented with the Richard Linley award, and Andrew Morris, the clerk of the course at Newmarket, was honoured for the job done by Alan Hatherley and the other members of the team.

The tireless work of countless groundstaff in producing a safe and effective racing surface for horses and jockeys was acknowledged by Dale Gibson of the PJA. Meanwhile, Hollie Doyle expressed her excitement for a challenge in Hong Kong after a stop-start year. Dylan Browne McMonagle is also set for a winter stint in Hong Kong.
