Racing excitement combines with endurance challenge as the inaugural Henkell Vinothon race nears its debut
The Henkell Vinothon, a unique marathon event that combines running and wine tasting, is set to take place in the picturesque Rheingau region of Germany. Initially planned for September 2021, the event has been postponed to September 2026 due to unspecified reasons[1].
The marathon offers three race distances - a full marathon (42.2 km), a half marathon (21.1 km), and a beginner's 8-kilometre run. The event kicks off at noon in Rüdesheim, with the finish line located at the Courtyard of Honor of Schloss Henkell.
Participants will run through the scenic vineyards, passing by historic landmarks such as Schloss Johannisberg and Schloss Biebrich. Along the route, there will be between ten and twelve supply stations offering water, bananas, and local delicacies such as Spundekäse and selected wines.
The Henkell Vinothon is more than just a running event. It's a celebration of wine, enjoyment, music, and sociability, and is part of the Rheingau Wine Week, which takes place from August 11. After the race, runners can look forward to celebrations with music, food, and the hope that the Henkell Vinothon will become a popular event for running groups.
The entry fee for the marathon or half marathon is 130 euros, while the entry fee for the 8 km run is 38 euros. Registration for the 2026 event is now open, enabling runners to sign up for any of the race distances offered[1].
The Rheingau Wine Week, a ten-day event filled with wine, enjoyment, music, and sociability, promises to immerse participants in the world of fine wines and enchant them with its unique atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, the Henkell Vinothon offers a unique and memorable running experience in the heart of Germany's wine country.
