Breaking New Ground at the Brickyard

Get ready for some innovation at this year's Indy 500! Fox Sports is buckling up for its first racing event with the iconic Brickyard, bringing a fresh, dynamic approach to the table.

"We're jumping into a once-in-a-career opportunity with two feet," says Michael Davies, Fox Sports Executive Vice President of Technical and Field Operations. "It's time to leave our mark on such a legendary race."

The action kicks off at 10 a.m. ET on May 25, live from Fox stations. The pre-race show sets the stage at 12:45 p.m., with coverage also available on Fox Deportes and streamable via the Fox Sports App and FoxDeportes.com.

Fox Sports has a history of tackling premier motorsports events like the Daytona 500, but this year marks their first venture into Indy 500 territory—previously dominated by NBC Sports since 2019, following a 54-year run on ABC.

Innovative Production Tactics

Don't expect the typical Indy 500 broadcast. Fox Sports will work with Indy Motor Sports Productions and Kevin Sublette, President of IMS Productions, to bring some exciting additions to viewers at home.

As part of the collaboration, Fox Sports will deliver the race in 1080p HDR, a first for the race, for an unparalleled color and pageantry experience. Additionally, they'll be debuting six "driver's eye cameras" to offer a unique, first-time driver's perspective[3].

Recognizing the potential of drones from their NASCAR coverage, Fox Sports is partnering with Beverly Hills Aerials once more. The team will deploy two airborne platforms, featuring modified drones equipped with broadcast cameras that can match Fox's other cameras[3].

Tuning in, fans can also look forward to augmented reality graphic elements, a head-up display (HUD), and the Fox Sports Ghost Car[4]. This cutting-edge technology enables viewers to visualize speed, racing lines, and gain an edge in comprehending the fast-paced action on the track.

Respecting Racing Heritage

While embracing innovation, Fox Sports approaches the Indy 500 with a respect for its rich 100+ year history,"We tread with humility around here," says Davies. "We're all newcomers, learning from the best, combining our NASCAR-style energy with the grace of a century's worth of Indy experience."

Fox Sports happily acknowledges its reliance on its esteemed partners at Indy Motor Sports Productions, calling them the backbone of the race coverage.
