Racing driver from the UAE focuses on reforestation efforts, striving to green his motorsport industry
Lachlan Robinson's #DrivenToZero Project: A Green Revolution in Motorsport
Lachlan Robinson, a racing driver based in Dubai, is making waves in the motorsport world with his sustainability initiative, the #DrivenToZero project. This innovative endeavour aims to offset Robinson's carbon footprint from traveling and racing by planting trees.
For every 75 kilometers Robinson races, one tree is planted. In addition, he plants trees for trips between the airport and race tracks, as well as up to six trees for each return flight between the UAE and Germany. The goal is to make motorsport, which is traditionally unsustainable due to intense travel and racing emissions, more environmentally responsible.
The #DrivenToZero project is a partnership with Evertreen, a leading eco-friendly platform that encourages companies to reduce their carbon footprint. Robinson, a five-time UAE Karting champion and recent ADAC GT4 podium finisher at Norisring, is a passionate advocate of green initiatives.
So far, the project has seen the planting of 1,000 trees in Madagascar and Indonesia, offsetting approximately 21,000 kilos of CO2. However, Robinson plans to plant 70 more trees this season, hoping to encourage more people to act responsibly towards the environment.
Robinson's commitment to sustainability is inspired by the UAE's own green initiatives. The country has hosted events like the COP28 and launched numerous green projects. Robinson sees his platform in motorsport as a powerful tool to make a difference and is using it responsibly to promote a sustainable world.
The #DrivenToZero project does not provide details about the specific types of trees being planted or the methods used for their plantation. Nor does it specify the exact location where the remaining 70 trees will be planted this season. Additionally, it does not mention any other partners or sponsors involved in the initiative beyond Evertreen.
Robinson's dedication to sustainability is a shining example of how individual athletes can drive change in high-emission sports sectors. As he continues to expand the project, #DrivenToZero is poised to become an influential force in the world of motorsport.
