In the championship standings, Piastri is currently leading the Formula 1 championship with a 16-point advantage over Norris. The qualifying result further strengthens Ferrari’s prospects at the Hungarian GP, starting with Leclerc on pole. However, McLaren leads both championships comfortably at this stage of the 2025 season. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren is dominant with 516 points, followed by Ferrari with 248 points, Mercedes third with 220, and Red Bull fourth at 192 points.
During the final practice session, the McLaren drivers pulled out a significant lead over the competition. Piastri set the fastest time, while Norris finished second. Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen's teammate, finished fourth, while Leclerc recorded the third fastest time.
