McLaren Dominates Final Practice Session Ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

The final practice session for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix saw a significant lead by the McLaren drivers, with Oscar Piastri setting the fastest time and Lando Norris coming in second. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari rounded out the top three.

As qualifying for pole position takes place today at 16:00 CET/Sky, the race on Sunday at 15:00 CET/Sky will be the 14th race of the Formula-1 season.

Piastri, currently leading the Formula-1 world championship, holds an 81-point advantage over second-placed driver Max Verstappen. Norris, Piastri's teammate, trails by 16 points.

In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren dominates with 516 points, far ahead of Ferrari (248 points), Mercedes (220 points approximately), and Red Bull (192 points approximately).

However, Verstappen struggled with his Red Bull in the final practice session, managing only twelfth place. On the other hand, Sauber driver Nico Hülkenberg finished tenth.

The qualifying session saw a close battle between Ferrari and McLaren at the Hungaroring, with Charles Leclerc taking pole position, Piastri second, and Norris third. Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc's teammate in Ferrari, finished fourth.

After the thrilling final practice session, Piastri from McLaren, who leads the Formula-1 world championship, decided to switch from racing cars to hockey sticks, showcasing his skills on the frozen lake near his residence. Meanwhile, his teammate Norris, who trails by 16 points, joined a local sports club and started playing football.
