"Racer resurfaces post-two-year doping suspension, set to compete in the Tour de France Femmes"
Shari Bossuyt Makes Dream Debut at Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift After Two-Year Suspension
Belgian cyclist Shari Bossuyt returned to professional cycling in mid-2025, joining the AG Insurance-Soudal team, and made her highly anticipated debut at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The Tour, which she described as a "dream," came after a two-year suspension due to a positive result for the banned hormone Letrozole in an anti-doping control in March 2023.
Despite the long break, Bossuyt kept up her training almost every day and remained motivated. Her form is now coming back, as evidenced by her sixth-place finish on stage three of the Tour de France Femmes. She repeated this performance on stage four.
The French anti-doping agency concluded that Bossuyt did not intentionally take the substance, and she has maintained her innocence throughout. However, she did not appeal the suspension due to a lack of "strength or money."
Bossuyt, who missed the Paris Olympics in 2024 due to her suspension, is now looking forward to the future. Her mentality is clear: she is not dwelling on the past. Instead, she is aiming for the LA Olympics in 2028.
Before her suspension, Bossuyt was a world-title-winning Madison pairing with Lotte Kopecky. She expressed the impact of her suspension on her mental health in a social media post last January. But now, she is happy to be back in the pack and riding the Tour de France.
Bossuyt's career was disrupted by the suspension, but she is making a strong comeback. Her new long-term goal is the LA Olympics in 2028, and she is determined to make it happen. She was made "non-active" by her previous team, Canyon-SRAM, and later left the squad. Now, she is a valuable addition to AG Insurance-Soudal.
