Racing Preview: Yarmouth and Ayr Meetings

In the upcoming races at Yarmouth and Ayr, several horses are worth keeping an eye on, each with their unique strengths and challenges.

At Yarmouth, Richard Hannon's "Handicappers' nap," Adjuvant, will be the odds-favorite in the 4.32 race. Adjuvant has demonstrated its best Racing Post Ratings on soft and heavy ground, a factor that could work in its favour given the current conditions. However, it's worth noting that Adjuvant had a down-the-field effort in a strong race at Haydock last time, but it takes a big drop in grade this time around.

Another contender at Yarmouth is Baltic Fleet in the 2.30 race. Baltic Fleet has shown promising form, working well on the peat moss gallop since its last race. It's also worth mentioning that Baltic Fleet ran well at the finish on its debut at Windsor.

In the same race, Dark Moon Rising could also make a strong showing if it handles the conditions. Dark Moon Rising finished strongly when a close third in this race last year, and it has a big chance if it can adapt to the ground.

Moving over to Ayr, Kind Touch is a horse to watch in the 2.22 race. Kind Touch made a successful debut at Ripon and the second and third have won since. It's important to note that Kind Touch is racing with a penalty, which could make its task more difficult.

Golden Handshake, running in the 5.20 race, might not be the horse it once was after a disappointing performance in the Melrose. However, before that race, Golden Handshake was progressive and won in a good time at Newbury.

Lastly, Young Merlin in the 4.55 race could be an interesting prospect. Young Merlin is upped in trip on this stiffer track and has a rider claiming a 5lb allowance. Young Merlin finished second on its debut for Rebecca Menzies last time, suggesting it's in good form.

Each of these horses has its strengths and weaknesses, and the conditions on the day will play a significant role in determining the outcome. Keep an eye on these horses as the races unfold.
