Bruno Spengler, a renowned racing driver and the only North American to win in the DTM series, is set to make a comeback to Quebec for the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) from August 8 to 10. This marks Spengler's first time racing in the front-wheel-drive touring car format of the Nissan Sentra Cup.

Spengler, who clinched the DTM drivers' title in 2012 driving for BMW, has had a remarkable career in racing. His accomplishments include multiple victories in DTM, notable success in endurance racing, and victories in other GT series such as IMSA and the Italian GT Championship. As of 2025, he remains active in GT racing and DTM events, participating in various European racing series.

The Nissan Sentra Cup, launched in 2015, has been a platform for both professional drivers and rookies, as well as celebrities. Previous participants include figure skater Elvis Stojko, former NHL player Marc-André Bergeron, and comedian Michel Barrette. The series, formerly known as the Micra Cup, has also attracted international racers like Freddie Hunt, son of former Formula 1 champion James Hunt.

For this event, Spengler will pilot car #007 for JD Promotion & Compétition. GP3R will host three Cup races during its race weekend, and Spengler expressed his excitement for his return to racing in Quebec. "I'm super happy to be racing in Quebec again after all these years," he said. "It's a huge pleasure, especially to take part in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, which has such a rich history."

Series promoter Jacques Deshaies expressed his own excitement about Spengler's entry. "His career is nothing short of remarkable," Deshaies said. "I'm thrilled that he accepted the invitation to race in Trois-Rivières."

Throughout his DTM career, Spengler recorded 16 wins, 51 podiums, 18 pole positions, and remains the winningest driver on the Norisring street circuit. He began his competitive karting career in France and won the French championship in 2000 before securing the Formula Renault Fran-Am championship in his debut season.

In addition to his role as a racing driver, Spengler currently serves as a factory driver and brand ambassador for Bugatti.

The 2025 Nissan Sentra Cup calendar includes five events across Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. This year's GP3R event promises to be an exciting addition to Spengler's racing calendar.
