Race unquestionably scheduled for April 13th: Linz Marathon
The 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon is set to take place on April 13th, 2023, attracting over 19,000 participants from 89 nations. This exciting event will bring a buzz to the city, but it will also impact the public transport network.
Transportation Changes
For those using public transport, be aware that much of the network will be affected by temporary closures or diversions. Specifically, buses on lines 12 and 25 will be rerouted during the closure of the railway bridge on Saturday, April 12th, from 7 am until approximately 5:30 pm. Unfortunately, there is no new information regarding the night line N82 service or any diversions on other lines.
Marathon Routes and Finish Lines
The finish lines for the relay, half, and full marathon runners remain at Pfarrplatz. However, a second finish line has been added for the 5K and quarter marathon races at the Lentos. Post-race refreshments for these runners will be provided at the Kunstmuseum.
Late Registrations
For those who have not yet registered, there is still time. Late registrations are possible at the Linzer TipsArena on Friday and Saturday. However, no new information about the number of participants or nations registered for the event has been released.
Security Measures
The organization responsible for security during the marathon has not been explicitly stated. However, it is worth noting that various police units will be visible and undercover at this year's event. Given the current terror alert level of 4 in Austria, additional security measures may be in place.
Stay Informed
As the event approaches, it is advisable to stay informed about any changes to the transportation network or the night line N82 service. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
