In a stunning display of cycling prowess, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, the mountain bike Olympic champion, claimed victory on the gruelling mountain stage up to the Col de la Madeleine at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes. This decisive win solidified her lead in the general classification (GC), placing her in a commanding position over key rivals.

Ferrand-Prevot, a French cyclist riding for the Dutch team Visma Lease a Bike, distanced her competitors, including Sarah Gigante from Australia and Niam Fisher-Black, on the final climb of the mountain stage. Her solo effort was enough to extend her lead, sealing the overall victory after the final stage.

Going into the final stage, Ferrand-Prevot held a lead of 2:37 minutes over Gigante, who moved up to the second overall position. Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney finished the mountain stage in fourth place, 3:40 minutes behind Ferrand-Prevot in the overall standings. Demi Vollering finished in third place, 3:18 minutes behind the race leader.

The previous overall leader, Kim Le Court Pienaar, lost over nine minutes to Ferrand-Prevot during the mountain stage. Franziska Koch, from Team Picnic PostNL, put in a commendable performance on the eighth stage, finishing in 26th place with a time difference of +14:40.

Ferrand-Prevot's victory at the Col de la Madeleine was a significant milestone in her career, marking her first French victory in the Tour de France Femmes and a significant triumph in women's cycling. With this win, she has become the best-placed contender to become the first Frenchwoman to win the Tour de France Femmes.
