Race Info for Season 5 of "Race Across the World": Launch Date, Destination, Participants, Interviews, and Allthe Latest Details
In the final stages of Race Across the World Season 5, the contestants are making their way through India, the last leg of their 14,000 km journey across Asia.
The race began 7 weeks ago at the Great Wall of China and will culminate at Kanniyakumari, the southernmost point of India. The five pairs participating in this season include Tom and Caroline, a handyman and housewife, Gaz and Yin, a sales director and data manager (who are ex-spouses), Brian and Melvyn, retired financial advisor and driving instructor, Elizabeth and Letitia, a pedagogist and Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, and Sioned and Fin, a customer service assistant and engineering student.
In episode 5, the teams faced a 1,500km journey to the fifth checkpoint, McLeod Ganj, famous for its temples and ashrams and home to the 14th Dalai Lama. The contestants had to decide whether to take the ferry and avoid the city or travel by land and use public transport in Mumbai.
As they travel through India's southern states, the teams encounter distinct languages, cuisines, and transitions. In episode 6, the teams have made it to the Buddhist hill town McLeod Ganj and their next destination is Sasan Gir, located 1,900km south in the western state of Gujarat.
The race has tested the contestants' resilience and adaptability, as they have had no smartphones, internet access, bank cards, or air travel. They can supplement their budget of £1140 per person by taking on jobs along the way.
Each episode is available to stream weekly on BBC iPlayer, and a teaser for the race is also available to watch. The final episode will air on June 11, 2025. The prize for the winning pair is £20,000.
The race has taken the teams through China, Nepal, and India, offering a unique perspective on the diverse cultures and landscapes of these countries. Race Across the World Season 5 began on April 23, 2025, and the teams are now in the final leg, with only 1,200km left before the finish line.
