The second stage of The Ocean Race Europe, a round-the-europe sailing marathon, has come to an end, marking a significant milestone in the race's journey. The 1400 nautical mile leg from Portsmouth, UK, to Cartagena, Spain, was a challenging and intense one, crossing the Bay of Biscay and entering the Mediterranean Sea.

All seven boats in the fleet completed the leg, with the full strength of the teams restored after some last-minute repairs in Portsmouth. One of the notable performances was from Paprec Arkéa, who finished third on this leg with an elapsed time of 5 days 14 hours 37 minutes and 41 seconds.

The race was marked by close competition, strategic comebacks, and high spirits. The crews, including Justine Mettraux (Switzerland), Francesca Clapcich (Italy/USA), and Loïs Berrehar (France) on Malizia, demonstrated their expertise and resilience in the demanding ocean conditions.

Will Harris, a British sailor, led the Malizia crew during this stage, sailing from his home to Cartagena. The Malizia skipper, Boris Herrmann, is not participating in this second stage of the Ocean Race Europe. However, Harris's leadership and the team's knowledge of the Atlantic and Mediterranean waters, as expressed by Herrmann, proved crucial in navigating the challenging course.

The next stop for the Ocean Race Europe is Kiel, and the crews are no doubt already preparing for the next leg. For those interested in the detailed crew lists per boat, that information is typically available on the official Ocean Race website or team pages.
