Quentin Grimes Returns to 76ers on $8.7M Deal, Season Opener Set
Quentin Grimes is returning to the Philadelphia 76ers. The guard, traded from the Dallas Mavericks last season, has signed a one-year, $8.7-million deal. The 76ers will kick off the 2025-26 season against the Boston Celtics on Oct. 22.
Grimes, who averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 28 games with the 76ers, has accepted the qualifying offer to return to the team. His decision comes as other guards, such as Chicago Bulls' Josh Giddey and Brooklyn Nets' Cam Thomas, also secure their futures with new contracts.
Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga has chosen a two-year deal over a longer offer. The forward opted for a short-term contract to maintain control over his immediate future.
Grimes' return to the 76ers is expected to bolster their lineup, with his strong performance last season speaking for itself. The team's season opener against the Celtics will mark the start of their campaign with Grimes back in the fold.
