Queen Mathilde Visits Princess Elisabeth at Harvard Before UN Speech
Queen Mathilde of Belgium recently visited her daughter, Princess Elisabeth, at Harvard University. The royal mother-daughter duo spent time together before Queen Mathilde addressed the UN General Assembly, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on women's rights.
Princess Elisabeth, who is studying for her master's degree at Harvard, had her studies disrupted last year due to a ban on international students imposed by the Trump administration. However, a federal judge later blocked this ban, allowing the princess to return to campus in person.
Queen Mathilde, en route to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, made a stop in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to see her daughter. The visit took place last week, with the queen also meeting with Harvard officials. Princess Elisabeth, who received her visa in August, was thrilled to resume her studies after the disruption caused by the ban.
Queen Mathilde's visit to Harvard allowed her to spend quality time with Princess Elisabeth before her UN address. The princess, now back at Harvard, can continue her studies without interruption, thanks to the federal judge's decision to block the international student ban.
