The University of Hawaii football team has welcomed some new faces to its quarterback room this season, with Luke Weaver taking on the role of junior backup to starting quarterback Micah Alejado.

Weaver, a transfer from Modesto College, was brought in specifically to be ready in case Alejado could not play. The coaching staff is confident in his ability to step in and perform, and he has been receiving reps during practice to improve his readiness for game action in the 2025-2026 season.

Dermaricus "MarMar" Davis and Caleb Freeman, two other newcomers to the team, are shrouded in mystery. Davis, a 4-star Etiwanda High senior, completed 69.4% of his passes with 25 touchdowns against seven interceptions and rushed for seven TDs in his final high school season. Freeman was asked to join the Warriors as a scout quarterback last summer, but enrolled too late to participate in a walk-on tryout.

However, the details of Davis and Freeman's roles on the team and how they arrived at the University of Hawaii remain unclear. Further research may be necessary to determine their specific involvement.

In the meantime, the trio of Alejado, Weaver, Davis, and Freeman is shaping up to be a formidable force in the quarterback room. Davis has bonded well with his new teammates, and Freeman is looking for additional ways to contribute to the team this year.

As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how these new additions to the quarterback room perform and how they help the Rainbow Warriors achieve success.
