Qatar Red Crescent Delivers Food Aid to 85 Countries During Ramadan 2024
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has expanded its humanitarian efforts during Ramadan 2024, reaching 85 countries with food distributions. From daily iftar meals in Doha to large-scale aid in conflict zones, the campaign has provided essential support to thousands in need.
In Qatar, QRCS ran the On-the-go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village. Each day, 350 meals were handed out, totalling 10,150 meals over the holy month.
Across Africa, distributions included 1,176 individuals in Tanzania's Dar es Salaam Region and 1,280 people in Chad, where local partners assisted. In Somalia's Northeast State, 1,951 one-month food parcels reached 10,806 beneficiaries, including patients and persons with disabilities, at a cost of USD 184,931.
The largest operation took place in Gaza, where QRCS delivered 17,833 food parcels to displaced families. The total expenditure for this effort amounted to USD 1,850,000. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, 1,164 parcels were distributed across Paktika and Zabul Provinces.
Preparations are also underway in Albania, where 500 food parcels will soon be distributed to 2,000 vulnerable people through the Albanian Red Cross.
The 2024 Ramadan campaign marks one of QRCS's broadest humanitarian efforts yet. With operations spanning from local initiatives in Doha to critical aid in crisis-hit regions, the organisation has delivered food assistance to tens of thousands. Official reports confirm distributions took place throughout March and April 2024.
