Pygmy Children unveil new album titled "Coincidental Strategies," debut single to be released on August 29
Pygmy Children Return with a New Album After 25 Years
Electro-industrial duo Pygmy Children, known for their aggressive synths, complex rhythmic structures, and sample-heavy production style, are set to release their first full-length album in over two decades. Titled "Coincidental Strategies", the album is scheduled to drop via Re:Mission Entertainment in fall 2025.
The Baltimore-based brothers Brian and Pete Roper, who make up Pygmy Children, began their discography with releases on the independent label No Name No Slogan. Their early works, such as "Malignant" (1994), established their sound, blending searing electronics, violent percussion, and dark, introspective themes often centered around death, disease, and societal decay.
Pygmy Children's sound evolved over the years, with "Deconstruct" (1995) and "Low Life Dream" (1997) showcasing more refined production techniques and a smoother sound compared to their earlier releases. "Low Life Dream" was produced by George of Urania and marked a significant shift in their sound.
After parting ways with Cleopatra Records due to the label's declining interest in electronic music, Pygmy Children took a break from releasing full-length albums. However, they continued to create music, with "Coincidental Strategies" being the result of this hiatus.
"Coincidental Strategies" promises to be a return to form for the duo, with acoustic drums and distorted vocals featured prominently. The album will include the lead single "I Have No Name", which will be released on August 29, 2022, across all major digital platforms. The single will feature a single mix, two remixes, and a new b-side.
The full tracklist for "Coincidental Strategies" is as follows:
- I Have No Name (Single Mix)
- I Have No Name (Frontal Boundary Remix)
- I Have No Name (Slipjoint Remix)
- Threadbare Static
To support the new album, Pygmy Children will embark on the Resurrection Tour, joining Mentallo & The Fixer for an East Coast run. The tour is expected to showcase the duo's live prowess and the evolution of their sound over the past two decades.
In 2025, Re:Mission Entertainment announced that Pygmy Children had signed to the label and would release new material. With "Coincidental Strategies", the duo is set to prove that they are still at the forefront of the electro-industrial genre, blending traditional electronic aggression with acoustic instrumentation while preserving their intense vocal style.
