Pygmy Children Release New Album Titled 'Coincidental Strategies'; Lead Single Set for August 29th Release
Pygmy Children to Release First Album in 25 Years
After a hiatus of more than two decades, Baltimore-based electro-industrial duo Pygmy Children is set to return with their first full-length album since 1997. Titled "Coincidental Strategies", the new album is scheduled for release in fall 2025 via Re:Mission Entertainment.
The duo, composed of brothers Brian and Pete Roper, made their debut in the mid-90s with releases on the independent label No Name No Slogan. Their discography includes the self-released debut Malignant (1994), Deconstruct (1995, Cleopatra Records), and Low Life Dream (1998, Out of Line Records), which marked a shift towards a smoother sound compared to "Deconstruct", with more sarcastic lyrics and faster tempos averaging 130 BPM.
Following the release of "Low Life Dream", Pygmy Children's output ceased, with Peter Roper announcing around 2005 that the project was effectively over. However, in 2025, Re:Mission Entertainment announced the band had signed to the label and would release new material.
The forthcoming album Coincidental Strategies notably integrates acoustic drums and distorted vocals, indicating a blend of traditional instrumentals with their established electronic style. This suggests a broadening of their sonic palette while retaining their characteristic intensity and rhythmic complexity.
The single from the album, "I Have No Name", will be released on August 29, 2025, across all major digital platforms. The single includes a single mix, two remixes, and a new b-side.
Bernard, the chief editor of Side-Line Magazine, responsible for filtering press releases and deciding which stories make the cut, has praised the new album, describing it as a return to form for the duo.
Pygmy Children will support the new album with live dates on the Resurrection Tour, joining Mentallo & The Fixer for an East Coast run. Donations to Side-Line Magazine can be made safely through Paypal, either monthly or once only.
