Silverlake Conservatory of Music's SCM All Stars Release Tribute EP to Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, founded by Flea, the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has released a new EP titled "Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers." This four-track release, executive produced by Flea and Merck Mercuriadis, is a testament to the musical talent nurtured at the conservatory.
The EP features covers of four iconic Chili Peppers songs: Subway To Venus, Sick Love, Hump de Bump, and Soul To Squeeze. The SCM All Stars, a collective of top students at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, have done justice to these classics, showcasing their passion and skill.
Flea, in a heartfelt statement, expressed his gratitude towards the tribute, saying, "The kids! I'm so grateful that our music can be a vehicle for their spirits to fly. This is what music is for. I am so proud of them."
The group performed their version of Hump de Bump on Good Day LA, with Flea as a guest on trumpet. The performance was a highlight, demonstrating the group's energy and enthusiasm.
Anthony Kiedis, the singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, was equally impressed by the tribute, stating, "I can't think of anyone I'd rather be tributized by."
This EP follows previous tributes to The Pretenders (released in May) and Neil Young (released in July). It marks the third tribute EP released by Flea's Silverlake Conservatory of Music this year.
Flea founded the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in 2001 with Keith 'Tree' Barry. The conservatory has since become a hub for musical talent, nurturing young musicians and providing them with a platform to showcase their skills.
In a unique twist, the Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves performed at a charity event at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in 2019, which was their final performance with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
Flea released his first solo EP via the Conservatory's website in 2012, further solidifying the conservatory's role as a platform for musical expression. The release of "Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers" continues this tradition, showcasing the talent and passion of the next generation of musicians.
