Punjab Police on High Alert: Mossad-Trained Elite Teams Ready as Second Line of Defense
Punjab deploys its elite military units at the borderline
In response to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Punjab Police has mobilized its elite forces - including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, Special Operations Groups (SOG), and Ghatak forces - as a second line of defense along the border with Pakistan.
These units, trained using manuals developed by Israel's national intelligence agency Mossad, specialize in high-stakes operations and VIP protection, such as visits by the President or Prime Minister. They are now being deployed to meet any challenges arising from the current situation.
SWAT, trained in Krav Maga and other specialized tactics by Israeli experts, is one of the most notable of the elite forces. Armed with advanced weaponry like Glock 17s, Beretta 92S, Heckler & Koch MP5, AK-47s, and Steyr SSG 69 sniper rifles, these teams are also equipped with lightweight protective gear, hands-free communication devices, and night-vision equipment for efficient response to high-risk situations.
Punjab Police has been working since 2017 to develop these elite units as a "second wall," ensuring their readiness for war-like situations. With the entire force on standby, including constables who have had their leaves cancelled, Punjab Police remains vigilant, monitoring the situation closely in collaboration with the BSF and other agencies at the border.
While the role of these Mossad-trained units in India-Pakistan border defense is vital, other units within Punjab Police, such as the Dolphin Force and SPU, contribute to maintaining law and order and providing specialized security, addressing high-risk situations as needed, though their primary roles are not specifically border defense.
With enhanced security measures at sensitive installations across Punjab and preparations underway to protect key sites and sensitive areas, Punjab Police stands ready to face any challenges that may arise from the current situation.
- Dolphin Force: Established in 2016, the Dolphin Force focuses on combating street crime and has expanded across several cities in Punjab.
- Special Protection Unit (SPU): Established in 2014, the SPU secures foreigners involved in national projects.
