Punisher Returns: Frank Castle Wields Deadly Vengeance
Get ready to back the infamous Punisher once again, as he's making a comeback in the realm of comics!
Marvel's feared vigilante, sporting his trusty arsenal, will make an appearance in Punisher: Red Band – a gripping five-issue miniseries, masterminded by Ben Percy (Wolverine) and Julius Ohta (Iron Man). The last time we caught up with Frank was when he conquered the Hand ninja cult (2023), discovered his spouse was alive and wanted a divorce, and ended up in Weirdworld. In this new comic, Frank awakens in New York, with no recollection of his past, but still packing a lethal punch, as he sets out on a chaos-filled endeavor to reclaim his lost memories and settle past scores.
Just like his TV counterpart, this Frank isn't shy of getting his hands (or guns) dirty. Expect some ruthless violence and bloodshed, warranting the "Red Band" warning for the amped-up explicit content.
Percy admitted his eagerness to pen this project, claiming, "I've been dying to write the Punisher for as long as I can remember. I'm going to go full throttle, pushing the genre to its breaking point. This is going to be raw, bloodcurdling, and ultra-violent - a street-level rollercoaster you don't want to miss."
Marvel has had its fair share of dilemmas deciding the best way to handle the Punisher, with some controversies stemming from his Netflix series airing in a post-mass shooting era, and police using his symbol as decoration on their vehicles. However, Daredevil: Born Again addressed the latter issue by displaying Frank as a brutal killer of Punisher-badged police officers who weren't living up to the symbol's ideals.
