Pundit Predictions: Visiting Villa

Manchester United travel to Villa Park this weekend for a crucial Premier League clash against Aston Villa. The Red Devils currently sit seven points behind their third-placed opponents, making this a high-stakes encounter. Former players Wes Brown and Quinton Fortune have shared their predictions ahead of the tightly contested match.

The confirmed starting eleven for Manchester United features André Onana in goal, with a back four of Diogo Dalot, Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martínez, and Tyrell Malacia. Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, and Bruno anchor the midfield, while Antony, Rasmus Højlund, and Alejandro Garnacho lead the attack.

Both ex-United players offered differing views on the likely outcome. Wes Brown foresees a 3-2 victory for his old club, with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring and claiming Man of the Match honours. His predicted lineup included Lammens, Yoro, Heaven, Martinez, Dalot, Fernandes, Mainoo, Shaw, Zirkzee, Mount, and Sesko—though only five of those players made the actual team. Quinton Fortune, meanwhile, expects a narrower 2-1 win for Manchester United. He tipped Matheus Cunha to score first and Kobbie Mainoo to stand out as Man of the Match. His predicted lineup—Lammens, Yoro, Shaw, Martinez, Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dorgu, Mount, Fernandes, and Cunha—also differed significantly from the final selection.

The match promises to be a tough test for Erik ten Hag’s side as they chase a top-four finish. With both former players backing a United win, the pressure is on the visitors to deliver. The actual starting lineup, however, suggests a different tactical approach from the one either predicted.
