Zashely, a 25-year-old professional ballet dancer, expressed her gratitude and determination during the competition. "I am honoured to represent Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe pageant," she said. "I will work hard to make my country proud."

One of the contestants, Jennifer Ventura, decided to participate in the Miss Universe contest after the death of her mother in the Jet Set disco incident that occurred on April 8 this year. The Dominican Republic has since crowned Jennifer Ventura as its new representative for the Miss Universe 2025 beauty contest.

Jennifer, who is 27 years old and studied Civil Engineering at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), expressed her dedication to her mother's memory during her participation in the program Trukamelo. "After her loss, which we unfortunately experienced in the Jet Set tragedy, I understood that her death would be the main purpose for me to walk this new path and I am sure it will transform my life and many more," she said.

Other contestants included Natalie Marrero, who is 30 years old, has a degree in criminal justice, and loves road trips; Aneichka Maldonado Torres, who is 24 years old and works as a clinical assistant in dermatology; Natalia Andrea Gómez Rivera, who is 24 years old and works as a sales and customer service specialist; Maria Fernanda Amador Rivera, who has degrees in Marketing, Human Resources, and Graphic Design; and Kaelie Blanes-Ronda, a graduate nurse from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The event was broadcast on WAPA América, and a special program titled "Long live the queen!" aired at 11 pm local time. Noticentro will also air the new Miss Puerto Rico 2025 at 11:30 pm local time.
