Public Servants in States Reinforce Wage Demand at Rally - Public sector unions in Germany demand wage hikes amid cost-of-living crisis

Public sector unions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are pushing for higher wages in ongoing pay talks. Around 34,600 employees across the state could be affected by the outcome. Unions are demanding either a €300 monthly increase or a seven percent rise to tackle rising living costs.

On Tuesday, roughly 120 public sector workers gathered in Schwerin to call for better pay. They urged the state government to meet union demands, warning of potential strikes if negotiations fail. The protest included employees from schools, local councils, and other public services.

If no agreement is reached, unions have threatened warning strikes. The outcome will determine pay for thousands of public sector workers in the region. Employers and the state government now face pressure to respond before tensions escalate.
