PSG's striker Mauro Icardi eyes departure from the club come summertime
Mauro Icardi, the 28-year-old Argentine striker currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is planning to leave the club next summer. This news comes as the French club is reportedly considering reducing their wage bill, which may involve letting Icardi go.
Icardi's contract with PSG is valid until the summer of 2024, but his second season with the club has been much quieter compared to his productive first season. Last year, he scored an impressive 20 goals in 34 games. However, this season, due to multiple injuries, he has only managed to score 7 goals in 19 matches, missing a total of 24 games.
The Serie A is being considered as a potential destination for Icardi's transfer. Italian media attributes interest in Icardi to Juventus and Roma, but reports also suggest that Inter Milan and AC Milan are also in the running. According to media, PSG is reportedly demanding a transfer fee of around 50 million euros for his rights. However, the amount PSG will ask for Icardi's transfer remains unknown.
The management of PSG will not oppose Icardi's departure. Icardi's future with PSG seems uncertain due to his performance and financial considerations. With a loss of starting position and a salary of 10 million euros, Icardi may be a financial burden for PSG.
Icardi was bought by PSG from Inter for 50 million euros. His departure would mark the end of a short but eventful chapter in his career with the French club. The coming months will reveal where Icardi will continue his football journey.
