Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Super Cup clash at Stadio Friuli on Wednesday. Amidst the excitement, speculation surrounds the future of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the French club.

Donnarumma, an Italian national, has been omitted from PSG's squad for the Super Cup clash, fuelling rumours of a potential transfer. His contract with PSG expires in June 2026, and he is currently considering his options, which may include a summer departure or waiting until 2026 to become a free agent and choose among interested clubs.

PSG is looking to move Donnarumma on, indicating he could be departing from the club this transfer window. Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City, have shown reported interest in the goalkeeper. However, Manchester City is advised to hold off on pursuing Donnarumma at this time. Other potential destinations could include top Premier League clubs, but the exact next club for Donnarumma remains uncertain.

Inter Milan is also thought to be interested in signing Donnarumma, who previously played for AC Milan. It is unclear if PSG has completed any potential transfer deals involving Donnarumma, or if his departure will leave a vacancy in the goalkeeping position.

Meanwhile, PSG has completed the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille. Chevalier could make his debut for PSG against Tottenham on Wednesday, but the role he will play in the potential future of PSG's goalkeeping position remains to be seen.

In 1996, PSG lost out to Juventus in the Super Cup two-legged showpiece. As they prepare for this year's clash, they will be hoping for a different outcome, regardless of the uncertainty surrounding Donnarumma's future.

Football is among the sports that Donnarumma, the Italian national goalkeeper currently with PSG, could potentially leave in the coming transfer window. The Champions League and other European leagues might offer a new home for him, considering the reported interest from Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, and even Inter Milan, given his previous association with AC Milan.
