PSG Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of Barcelona Clash

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) faces a mounting injury crisis ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona. Key players, including captain Marquinhos and reigning Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, are sidelined, while others like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha are nursing injuries.

PSG's injury woes began with the absence of Dembélé, who has been out with a thigh injury. The French winger, who won the Ballon d'Or last year, has played 99 games for PSG and 20 for France in the last two years. His return is expected in a couple of weeks, but his absence has been felt in the team's recent performances.

The club's captain, Marquinhos, is also out with a left quadriceps/left thigh injury. His absence could extend to several weeks, including the upcoming Champions League match. Other midfielders like João Neves and Desire Doué are also out with thigh and calf injuries respectively, with Doué unlikely to play and Neves' status uncertain.

In the previous game, playmaker Vitinha and forward Kvaratskhelia were substituted early due to injuries. Vitinha, who has made 113 appearances for PSG and 21 for Portugal in the last year and a half, is uncertain for the Barcelona game. Kvaratskhelia's status is also unclear.

Adding to PSG's woes, Lamine Yamal, the Kopa Trophy winner, could have potentially replaced Dembélé but is also absent. Desire Doué, second in the Kopa Trophy ranking, is out with a calf injury.

PSG's injury crisis is a significant blow ahead of their Champions League clash against Barcelona. The club will need to rely on their depth and the resilience of their remaining players to navigate this challenging period. The return of Dembélé in a couple of weeks will be a welcome boost, but the club will need to manage their injuries carefully to maintain their title challenge.
