PSG aims for prompt transfer of top goalkeeper Donnarumma

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to bid farewell to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after the club signed Lucas Chevalier as his replacement. The Italian international, who joined PSG from AC Milan last summer on a free transfer, is now expected to leave the French club this summer or next.

Manager Luis Enrique has decided that Donnarumma does not fit the profile of goalkeeper the team needs, as evident by his exclusion from the UEFA Super Cup squad. This clear sign of his impending exit comes after PSG spent a significant amount on Chevalier's transfer from OSC Lille, with the deal reportedly worth around 40 million euros, potentially rising to 55 million euros with bonuses.

Chevalier is set to make his debut for PSG in the European Super Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur, replacing Donnarumma. The match is taking place in Udine, Italy.

Donnarumma, who won the Champions League with PSG at the end of May, has expressed his disappointment and disheartenment publicly, stating he gave everything to the club but was told he could no longer be part of the team. His contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2026.

PSG is demanding around €50 million for Donnarumma despite his contract expiring next summer. His agent has criticised the club for the treatment Donnarumma has received and indicated that only a Premier League club could meet PSG's financial demands. Interest from Manchester City is reportedly increasing, with personal terms reportedly agreed, as City looks to replace their current goalkeeper Ederson, who may move to Galatasaray.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that the English Premier League is considered the most likely destination for Donnarumma. However, other Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly dropped interest this summer. The Premier League is not mentioned as a potential destination for Donnarumma in this article.

The transfer of Lucas Chevalier to PSG was reported by "L'Equipe." Donnarumma saved two penalty kicks from Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16, but it seems his heroics were not enough to secure his future at the club.
