PSD Candidate Hugo Soares Targets PS Votes in Algarve Amid Chega's Rise
Hugo Soares, a candidate for the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in the Albufeira district, has set his sights on winning votes from the Socialist Party (PS) in the Algarve region. This strategy comes as Chega, a far-right party, has gained significant ground in recent elections, and a former deputy of Rui Rio, a prominent Portuguese politician, is running for the PSD in the area.
Soares has made the PS his primary target in the Algarve, where Chega has experienced substantial growth in recent electoral campaigns. He has accused the PS of being in denial about the country's reality in the region. Notably, Soares refrained from commenting on the absence of André Ventura, the leader of Chega, during the PSD's visit to the Algarve this week. Instead, he focused on his party's campaign, replacing Luis Montenegro in the local campaign on Wednesday.
Hugo Soares' campaign in the Albufeira district is marked by his determination to challenge the PS in the Algarve, where political dynamics have shifted in favor of Chega. His strategy and comments reflect a focus on local issues and a willingness to engage with the PS on key topics, despite the absence of André Ventura from the campaign trail.
