Prunella Scales, 'Fawlty Towers' Star, Dies at 93
Veteran actress Prunella Scales has passed away peacefully at her family home in south London. The 93-year-old, known for her roles in 'Fawlty Towers' and 'Bleak House', lived in the house near Wandsworth Common for nearly six decades. Meanwhile, details of the will of her husband, actor Timothy West, who died in November 2024, have been revealed.
Scales, who played Sybil Fawlty in the iconic sitcom, resided in the house she bought with West in 1968. The property remains listed in both their names at the Land Registry. Despite his death, West was still listed as a director of Snipe Productions, a company incorporated by Scales in 1972.
West's will, revealed posthumously, shows his generous contributions to various charities. He left £5,000 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and £20,000 to his sister Patricia Anne West. Other beneficiaries include Bristol Old Vic, Theatre Royal Trust, Southwark Cathedral, Snipe Charitable Trust, Médecins Sans Frontières UK, and The Combined Theatrical Charities Appeals Council, each receiving £10,000 to £15,000. However, the recipients and allocations in West's 2024 will remain unknown, as no search results are available.
Prunella Scales' passing marks the end of an era in British television. Meanwhile, Timothy West's legacy continues through his substantial donations to various charitable causes, reflecting his commitment to supporting worthy organisations.
