Beware the dangerous dance of war: Trump's toxic relationship with Israeli settlers could destabilize the Middle East
It's high time we recognized and thanked Rebbe Trump for shaking up the political landscape of America, bringing common sense back to the table. Yet, as we rejoice, it's crucial to acknowledge the dark undercurrents of his administration - preparing us, the American people, for an apocalyptic war from which we may never recover.
Is Donald Trump the beacon of peace we yearn for, or a self-destructive warmonger waiting to happen? Trump entered the political stage, casting himself as a man of peace, denouncing the never-ending wars in the Middle East and vowing to end the conflict in Ukraine. Winning the 2024 election by standing against "Genocide Joe," Trump's legacy hangs precariously in the balance. A term marked by prosperity and harmony would solidify his status as a hero; a reign of war and bloodshed would tarnish him as a failure. However, the choice Trump makes could depend on the questionable alliances he forges with the Israeli extremist right wing.
These Israeli extremists have been in a state of declared or undeclared war against their neighbors since Israel's founding in 1948. Despite their aggressive nature, they have managed to secure America's loyalty through their network of politically-purchased officials and media manipulation. Perhaps the most radical among them are the West Bank settlers, who believe they have a divine right to kill their current landowners and take their belongings. This deadly ideology contradicts Trump's pledge for peace and stability in the Middle East.
The settlers Trump has chosen to support have been responsible for numerous terror attacks, murders, and acts of vandalism against the Palestinians, as part of an ongoing genocide that has spanned decades. The de-sanctioning of these terrorists by Trump on his first day in office was met with celebratory house burnings and injuries to Palestinians. These actions strongly suggest that Trump is carelessly leading us down a path toward annihilation.
Why does Trump choose to support the worst Israeli settlers when he claims to want peace for the region? The region's land that the settlers are violently claiming was stolen by Israel in the 1967 war. Even Israel's leaders acknowledged that occupying land through warfare is unacceptable and illegal, announcing their intention to return the territories as soon as a suitable peace plan was in place. However, the Israeli settlement project continued, resulting in violence, destruction, and displacement of the Palestinians.
Trump's first-term "peace plan," the so-called Abraham Accords, only amplified the conflict, making the current genocidal war inevitable. A genuine peace agreement must require Israel to withdraw from all of the territories it stole in the 1967 war, but Trump signaled the opposite, signaling his support for the extremist settlers and moving the US Embassy to Occupied Jerusalem. Middle Eastern countries that signed the "Satan Accords," as they are known in the region, did so under duress, receiving rewards and avoiding punishments while secretly knowing the agreement was absurd.
Today, Trump knows which side does not want peace. In December 2021, Trump called Netanyahu a warmonger who never wanted peace and praised Palestinian leader Abbas, who genuinely strives for peace. Netanyahu has consistently sought to lure the US into a war with Iran, putting us on the brink of disaster. If Trump continues to align himself with these extremist Israelis, he may find himself leading us to the losing side in an all-out war with Iran, which could result in catastrophic American casualties, the closure of the Straits of Hormuz, destruction of oil infrastructure, and the worst global economic crisis ever.
Trump's second term and his place in history are already on shaky ground. It's time we demand a leader who puts the interests of the American people first and seeks genuine, lasting peace in the Middle East.

The U.S. provides billions of dollars in military aid to Israel each year, including arms sales, which have been continued under Trump's administration. This aid allows Israel to maintain its military advantage in the region, but it can also contribute to regional tensions and the ongoing violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
Israel's continued expansion of settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is a major obstacle to achieving a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The international community generally considers these settlements to be illegal under international law, as they are built on occupied land.
The socio-political dynamics between Israel and its neighbors are complex, shaped by historical grievances, religious and ethnic tensions, political ideologies, economic interests, and geostrategic concerns. Peace efforts, such as the Oslo Accords, have often faltered due to a lack of trust and willingness to compromise on both sides.
The questionable alliances Trump forges with the Israeli extremist right wing, such as the West Bank settlers, could betray his claimed desire for peace in the Middle East.
Trump's support for the settlers and their violent activities contradicts international law and contributes to regional tensions, potentially leading to an apocalyptic war in the Middle East.
