The Red Hot Chili Peppers bid a musical farewell to their long-time guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, in a charity event at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in 2019. This performance marked the end of an era for the iconic band.

The event was commemorated with a four-track EP, "Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers," released by the SCM All Stars, a collective of top students at Flea's Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The EP features covers of four classic Chili Peppers songs: Subway To Venus, Sick Love, Hump de Bump, and Soul To Squeeze.

Anthony Kiedis, the lead vocalist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was deeply moved by the tribute and expressed his gratitude, stating that he can't think of anyone he'd rather be tributized by. Flea, the bassist of the Chili Peppers and co-founder of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, also expressed his gratitude towards the students, stating that their spirits can fly through music.

The EP was executive produced by Flea and Merck Mercuriadis. The group performed their version of Hump de Bump on Good Day LA, with a guest appearance by Flea on trumpet.

This isn't the first time the SCM All Stars have paid tribute to a music legend. Previously this year, they released Our Loving Tribute to The Pretenders in May and Our Loving Tribute to Neil Young in July. The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, where the students recorded the EP, also released Flea's first solo EP on their website in 2012.

While the term 'tributized' used in this article may not be a standard term, it is clear that the students' tribute to the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a heartfelt and skillful homage to the band's iconic sound.
