Feds Faced with $100M Lawsuit by Angry Proud Boys: Echoes of Political Persecution
In response to the fallout from the Capitol riot: Proud Boys claim they are entitled to $100 million in compensation - Proud Boys pursue substantial $100 million compensation claim.
In a striking turn of events, five Proud Boys members, including former leader Enrique Tarrio, have launched a lawsuit demanding a whopping $100 million in damages. These right-wing extremists allege a deeply ingrained "politically motivated persecution" – an attempt to penalize allies of the former President, Donald Trump, post the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Tarrio, now serving a 20-year sentence for his part in the riot, was amongst over 1,500 Capitol attackers controversially pardoned by Donald Trump upon his return to the White House last January. This lawsuit, filed in an Orlando federal court, accuses government agents of fabricating incriminating evidence, along with other serious allegations such as evidence tampering, witness intimidation, and even spying on their trial strategy.
Just a few months back, the Trump administration reached an out-of-court settlement with the family of Ashli Babbitt, the woman shot by a police officer during the same Capitol rampage, worth $5 million (~4.4 million euros).
The plaintiffs in this contentious legal battle are not just any ordinary individuals – they include Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl, Ethan Nordean, and Dominic Pezzola, all players in this infamous event. They claim that their constitutional rights have been violated and are now determined to challenge what they perceive as the systemic exploitation of the legal system against Trump supporters.
