Protests in the Capital - Multiple Gatherings in City Center - No Major Incidents Reported - Heavily Disrupted Traffic Flow
In the heart of Oberbilker, and surrounding areas such as Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and Schadowplatz, a series of rallies and a parade took place over the course of several hours. The events, which attracted a diverse crowd, were marked by a few notable instances of public order breaches and unauthorized assemblies.
The day began at the Oberbilker Market, where two events unfolded simultaneously. A rally, attended by approximately 30 participants, was met with a counter-rally that saw around 200 attendees. The peaceful gatherings took place from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM.
Another rally, with around 80 participants, took place at Schadowplatz from 2:20 PM to approximately 3:30 PM. The events were marked by several instances of violations, including resistance against law enforcement officers and incitement or hate speech. These incidents led to six criminal complaints being filed.
Around midday, a parade started at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and made its way towards the Corneliusplatz. The parade, which peaked at around 13,000 participants, was initially planned to go through the Königsallee. However, due to the high number of participants, the route was changed in cooperation with the rally leader, and the parade instead marched through the Breite Straße. The parade ended at 4:10 PM after a closing rally.
Interestingly, a counter-demonstration with about 1,000 people took place concurrently, but was not reported in advance. This oversight led to the police filing a criminal complaint for failure to report a gathering.
Despite the instances of public order breaches and unauthorized assemblies, all gatherings ended without any notable incidents. The rally leader declared the rally over at 4:10 PM, marking the end of an eventful day in Oberbilker.
