In the heart of Düsseldorf, the Oberbilker Market played host to a series of public assemblies on a recent day. The main event, a rally with approximately 80 participants, took place at Schadowplatz from 14:20 PM to approximately 15:30 PM. Simultaneously, a counter-demonstration with around 200 participants took place at the same location.

A procession, with an estimated attendance of over 13,000 people (more than registered), started at around 12:30 PM from Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, heading towards the Corneliusplatz. Due to the high attendance, the procession route had to be changed in cooperation with the assembly leader.

Interestingly, a smaller rally with about 30 attendees and an unregistered counter-rally with around 200 participants occurred at the Oberbilker Market from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM. The unregistered counter-rally led to a criminal complaint for failure to notify of an assembly being filed.

All assemblies ended without any notable incidents, and the procession concluded at 16:10 PM after a closing rally. In total, six criminal complaints were filed across all assemblies.

General knowledge of German assembly law reveals that public assemblies (Versammlungen) usually require prior notification to the local authorities rather than a permit. The local police or city administration must be informed in advance, typically at least 48 hours before the event. This notification allows authorities to ensure public safety and order. The assembly organizer must provide details such as the time, place, purpose, and expected number of participants.

For Oberbilker Market, located in Düsseldorf, the relevant authority would be the Düsseldorf city administration or police department. Specific local regulations might apply, so contacting the Düsseldorf Ordnungsamt (Public Order Office) or the local police for detailed guidance is recommended.

For exact and updated regulations, you should consult Düsseldorf’s official administrative sources or legal texts related to the Versammlungsgesetz (Assembly Act) in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is essential to adhere to these regulations to ensure a peaceful and orderly assembly for all involved.
