Protests are set to take place this weekend on Saturday.
The city of Cologne will experience traffic disruptions on September 20, as two significant demonstrations are scheduled to take place. The "March for Life" and a counter-protest titled "Pro Choice" will both be held in the heart of the city.
The "March for Life" demonstration, registered with 5,000 participants, will commence at Neumarkt square and proceed through inner-city streets, concluding back at the same square. Simultaneously, a counter-protest with 1,000 participants is planned at the same location.
To ensure the safety of all participants and the public, the Cologne Police will be present in strong forces. They will provide regular updates on major events and developments during the operation via their official Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Streets and intersections will be closed continuously during the demonstrations. However, Rhine bridges are currently planned to remain unaffected. Partial disruptions in public transportation cannot be ruled out due to the high expected number of participants.
Locals and visitors are urged to take traffic disruptions into account in their plans. More information, including the route of the demonstrations, can be found on the Cologne Police website: https://koeln.polizei.nrw.
In case of press inquiries, please contact the Cologne Police Press Office at Walter-Pauli-Ring 2-651103 Cologne, telephone number 0221/229 5555, or via email at [email protected].
The Cologne Police will intervene against troublemakers who try to misuse freedom of expression and assembly to commit crimes. They encourage everyone to respect each other's rights and maintain peace during the demonstrations.
The "March for Life" demonstration is scheduled to take place from 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM. The city of Cologne looks forward to a peaceful and respectful demonstration of free speech on this important topic.
