Memorial Service for Charlie Kirk to Be Held in Budapest

A memorial service for the late US conservative activist Charlie Kirk will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday, September 21, parallel to his funeral in the United States. This will mark the second commemoration for Kirk in Budapest.

The vigil, organized by right-wing publicist Zsolt Bayer, was held at the US Embassy in Budapest on Thursday evening, with hundreds of mourners gathering in front of the embassy. Miklós Szánthó, Director General of the Center for Fundamental Rights, also spoke at the event.

Szánthó described Charlie Kirk as a cultured, normal young man who embodied a civilized culture of debate. He stressed that Kirk had excellent logical and rhetorical skills and engaged in calm, peaceful debates with students. Szánthó stated that Kirk was murdered for professing his Christian, sovereigntist, and patriotic views.

László Molnár of the Saint Stephen Institute also addressed the crowd, declaring that Kirk's murder was not just an American matter but a 'strike against civilization, Judeo-Christian culture, and the sanctity of life'. Molnár quoted Erika Kirk, the widow of the slain activist, saying her sobs would echo across the world as a battle cry.

Bayer invoked a biblical parable of Jesus Christ at the close of the commemoration, stating that there had been enough of 'neo-Marxist, far-left, anarchist, Antifa terror and opinion terror'. He emphasized that the memorial on Sunday serves as a continuation of the tribute to Charlie Kirk initiated on Thursday evening.

The funeral of Charlie Kirk is scheduled to take place in the United States on the same day as the memorial in Budapest. Although there is no information about any person planning a memorial service at the US Embassy building in Budapest on Sunday, the memorial on Sunday is expected to draw mourners to the US Embassy once more.

The memorial will be held in parallel with Kirk's funeral in the United States, with hundreds of candles lit in tribute to the slain activist. Recent mocking remarks about Kirk's murder have been made by the Hungarian opposition. However, the memorial events in Budapest aim to honour Kirk's life and legacy, emphasizing his commitment to civilized debate and Judeo-Christian culture.
