Protesting farmers halt traffic on Finkenwerder's ring road, A7 permanently obstructed

In the early hours of Monday morning, a series of blockades caused significant disruptions on several major roads in Hamburg. The access and exit routes to the A7 and the Köhlbrand Bridge were blocked for hours, leading to a long traffic jam on the B73 before the Heimfeld exit, stretching back to the height of Schwarzenberg in the direction of Harburg.

The blockade on the Finkenwerder Ring, which also involved arson, was organized by activists from environmental and housing groups. Farmers in the south of Altenwerder joined the protest, blocking a street with tractors. In the area of the Finkenwerder Ring, a small fire was set on the road, which police officers extinguished with a powder extinguisher.

To remove manure spread on the road, police had to call in heavy machinery. A fire truck crane was brought in to help secure the tractors in the area. The last tractor left the Kornweide around 2:30 AM, but the traffic jam on the B73 before the Heimfeld exit remained unchanged.

The blockades caused disruptions in the area around the Kornweide and Airbus in Finkenwerder. Many car and truck drivers trying to avoid the congestion also caused disruptions in the area of the Hannoversche Straße. The heavy traffic on the A7, making it difficult for cars to get onto the highway, persisted.

Criminal investigations have been initiated in connection with these blockades, with charges of coercion being levied. Additionally, several administrative offense proceedings have been initiated in connection with the blockades.

The protests are part of a growing movement in Germany, with activists demanding action on environmental and housing issues. The disruptions caused by the blockades serve as a reminder of the ongoing tension between activists and authorities in these matters.
