Activists Return Stolen Macron Wax Statue in Paris Protest

Take a gander at this hullabaloo in the City of Lights! In an unusual turn of events, environmental activists from Greenpeace have returned the swiped wax figure of French President Emmanuel Macron to the Musée Grévin after a clandestine heist.

On a stormy Monday, three activists slipped past security at the iconic museum, slipping into disguises as employees and making Their Way out with the pièce de résistance, the waxed Macron, snugly wrapped in a blanket through an emergency exit. The presidential doppelgänger has an insured value of a hefty 40 grand euros.

The audacious activists then got in touch with the museum, promising to restore the Macron statue, unscathed, in due course. They decided to plant their intriguing art installation in front of the Russian embassy in the heart of Paris – a statement against ongoing economic camaraderie between France and Mother Russia amid the brewing war in Ukraine.

Come Tuesday evening, the band of rebels made good on their promise. They moved their skillfully concealed Macron statue to the threshold of the EDF headquarters in Paris, accompanied by a sign that read, "Putin-Macron: Radioactive Allies," before tipping off the law enforcement officials. The police were on the scene quick as a flash, safeguarding the valuable wax figure.

"We're here to hand back President Macron's wax figure," announced Jean-François Julliard, the direc-tor general of Greenpeace France, to the news agency AFP. "As promised from the get-go," added the eco-warrior, confirming that the group had merely borrowed the figure with no ill intentions. It seems our apprehensive Macron was treated like a delicate damsel in distress, with the activists wrapping him up securely and dialing the museum director ASAP to confirm his safe return.

This wax figure escapade is not a completely alien occurrence in the annals of Musée Grévin history, as an earlier incident took place, involving French politician Jacques Chirac. However, the latest incursion by the Greenpeace activists is the most significant and controversial event since the museum's inception in 1882. As political tensions boil over and social activism escalates, only time will tell if Paris will continue to be a stomping ground for such unconventional protests.

The Commission, in the midst of Paris's political landscape, has been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionising radiation, given the recent unusual events involving activists and a wax figure of French President Emmanuel Macron at the Musée Grévin.

This controversial act by Greenpeace activists, despite being resolved amicably with the return of the Macron wax statue, serves as a reminder of the ongoing general-news issues surrounding France's economic relations with countries like Russia, entwining art, politics, and international relations in an intricate dance.
