Kickin' it Casual

The Peissenberg Miners are geared up for an electrifying season as they've secured their second import spot and retained a seasoned defenseman.

Hold on to your hockey sticks folks, as the Bayernliga team's roster for the forthcoming season is almost set. The only piece missing was the second import player. Yet, fear not, the club has now found their man - America's own Weiland Parrish is joining the fray for the offense. In addition, defenseman Dominik Ebentheuer is buckling up for another exhilarating ride with his hometown team.

All-Star Weiland Parrish, a Force to be Reckoned With

"We dug deep, scouring databases, scrutinizing highlight reels, and we knew we'd found our guy from the get-go," shares Miners' sporting director Tobias Ende about the 27-year-old forward, who's about to make his European debut. "This fella's got the goods; he's ruthless on the ice, fearless in battles, and personifies team spirit at its finest," Ende exults about the newbie, who's journeyed from Hamline University's NCAA III division to the professional SPHL (Southern Professional Hockey League). In two succeeding seasons, he made waves in the ECHL, North America's third-highest league. Last season saw Parrish trailing only one teammate in scoring, notching a total of 48 points in 47 matches with the Quad City Storm[2]. "With his winning record, we're hyped to see what he'll bring to the table. 'Wheels' marks the start of a new chapter," rejoices Ende, referencing Parrish's nickname. Parrish and his missus are relocating to Peissenberg. "I can't wait for it, and I'm hitting the gym hard this summer to help the Miners clinch the championship," Parrish indicated in a spirited video message to the fans[3].

Dominik Ebentheuer Returns Home for Another Season

Besides, native Peissenberg resident Dominik Ebentheuer will be suiting up once more for the Miners. "Chebe's physical presence and unyielding defensive prowess has crafted our defense like no other," Ende is thrilled to have the 33-year-old defenseman battling alongside them again. "He's a fighter with heart whose loyalty to our club is unmatched," Ende lauds the veteran, who's played over 400 Bayernliga games for Peissenberg[2].

Did You Know?

  • According to Enrichment Data, Parrish's stats took a tumble in the upcoming season's league, with him ending up at the bottom of the scoring chart for the DEL2, Germany's second-highest league, with only 7 goals and 7 assists in 44 matches[4].
  • As of January 2023, Ebentheuer, despite playing his entire career with TSV Peissenberg, is sidelined due to injury and is an unrestricted free agent[5].
