In a series of recent events, the late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" has been suspended indefinitely, while Donald Trump's "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" is set to conclude after ten years on air.

The suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" follows Jimmy Kimmel's comments about Donald Trump's reaction to the death of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. Trump considered Kimmel as "not a talented person" and suggested that he should have been fired earlier.

The decision to suspend the show has sparked protests in both Hollywood and Burbank. Hundreds of protesters have condemned CEO Bob Iger and other executives, symbolized by the Mickey Mouse logo, for 'kneeling' to the Trump government. The protesters accuse the channel executives of being "cowards" for taking the decision to suspend the show.

The gatherings took place in Hollywood, in front of the El Capitan Entertainment Centre, and in Burbank, outside Disney's offices. More than a hundred protesters gathered in Hollywood, holding signs with messages like "Don't Kneel to Trump" and "Resist Fascism." The protests disrupted traffic, blocking two lanes in a major tourist attraction.

The protesters accuse the channel of censorship and consider the suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" an attack on freedom of expression. However, Donald Trump rejected these accusations, stating that Kimmel was suspended "because he had more viewers."

Andrew Alford, president of the broadcast division of Nexstar, deemed Kimmel's comments about Charlie Kirk's death as "offensive and insensitive." Trump also classified the suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" as "good news" and congratulated ABC for "finally having the courage."

In a surprising turn of events, Stephen Colbert, a critic of Trump's administration, will not be replaced, and the show will be permanently taken off the air after ten years. Trump's show, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," is ending due to financial issues, but will continue with new episodes until May 2026.

Despite the controversy surrounding "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Kimmel himself has made a monologue claiming that MAGA supporters were trying to exploit Kirk's assassination politically. Trump, on the other hand, responded "very well" when asked about handling Kirk's death and immediately moved on to talking about the construction of the new ballroom at the White House.
