Bloodshed in Colorado's Boulder Town
Twelve casualties were reported in a vicious attack on a pro-Israel rally held in the heart of Colorado. Initially, eight people were hurt, but two more victims emerged in the following days, increasing the total to twelve. Fortunately, the additional four victims sustained only minor injuries, their recovery process extended due to the nature of their wounds. The two injured individuals are still under medical care.
Molotov Cocktails and Shouts of "Free Palestine"
The rally in Boulder on a Sunday drew the attention of a suspect, who hurled Molotov cocktails at the peacekeeping group. The aged victims included some above 80 years old. According to the investigation, the culprit screamed the provocative slogan "Free Palestine" as he unleashed hell on the peaceful demonstrators. Remarkably, 16 unexploded Molotov cocktails were found at the scene of the crime.
The Egyptian Phantom
The suspect, believed to be Egyptian, was apprehended on the spot. Authorities confirmed that he had entered the USA without a valid visa in September 2022. Initially, he applied for asylum, but his visa had expired, leaving him in the country illegally. US Attorney General Pamela Bondi described the individual as a threat to peace and safety, accusing him of committing a hate crime and a heinous act of antisemitism. The state of Colorado has additionally charged him with attempted murder.
A Year in the Making
The FBI has delved deeper into the matter and revealed that the suspect had been planning the attack for over a year [1][2]. As per the obtained sworn statement, he harbored a deep-seated hatred for all "Zionists" and aimed to execute them without mercy [1][5].
Donald Trump's Unfiltered Response
US President Donald Trump vehemently denounced the incident, labeling it a "terrorist act" that would be dealt with ruthlessly according to the law [3]. Trump's rhetoric, however, wasn't reserved for the attacker but also extended towards his predecessor, Joe Biden. Trump asserted that Biden's supposedly lenient immigration policies facilitated the suspect's presence in the country [3].
Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Trump's sentiments, warning of potential deportation for all "terrorism sympathizers," including the suspect's family members. This may potentially implicate the suspect's daughter as well [3].
Schumer's Somber Assessment
The Democratic Party's minority leader, Chuck Schumer, shared a poignant observation. One of the victims was reportedly a Holocaust survivor, with Schumer deeming the collective blame on Jews for Middle Eastern conflicts as "[a form] of antisemitism" that persists in several American corners [3]. The Israeli government explicitly labeled the attack a heinous act of antisemitism targeting Jews [3].
