Over a thousand individuals gathered in Pforzheim for the Christopher Street Day (CSD) 2025, with over 1,300 attendees reported by police[1][5]. The event's theme, "Don't be quiet, be a riot - Solidarity against hate," aimed at supporting a boisterous and inclusive queer life in Pforzheim[5].

Reports from CSD 2025 in Karlsruhe:

An invitation for clash from the far-right

A far-right outfit going by the name "Disruptive Squad South" had paved the way for confrontation by announcing a protest on social media[5][1]. This simultaneous and nearby demonstration was planned for the Bertha-Benz-Platz, just steps away from the CSD festivities in Pforzheim. Approximately 150 participants were expected to assemble at midday to launch their protest[5]. However, police reports show that only around 80 demonstrators turned up[5].

Antifa takes a stand against hate

An estimated 150 Antifa members also joined the fray, intending to challenge the far-right group and promote their anti-fascist message[5]. At the demonstration's inception, there was a brief altercation between the right-wing and Antifa protesters. Police swiftly intervened to prevent any further escalation and kept both groups apart[5].

As the protest progressed, Antifa attempted to impede the demonstration of the far-right participants[5]. Confrontations developed between officers and some demonstrators, leading to the arrest of one individual and the collection of over 100 personal details[5].

Ultimately, the Antifa demonstration was dispersed by police due to unruly disturbances[5]. Police are currently investigating possible breaches of the peace.

City traffic disrupted by the demonstrations

Police were present in great numbers to maintain order. The resulting protests in the city center led to traffic disruptions in Pforzheim on the Saturday afternoon[5]. Public transportation was also compromised as a result[5].

Following the CSD demonstration, enthusiasts continued to revel on the Pforzheim market square throughout the night. This marks the third time the CSD has been held in Pforzheim. For the first time, Mayor Tobias Volle addressed the event[5].
