Protest erupts in Bohol
On September 20, 2025, Tagbilaran City will witness an exciting boxing event hosted by the PMI Bohol Boxing Stable. The main fight of the night will feature Shane Gentallan, managed by Atty. Floriezyl Echavez Podot, as he challenges Arvin John Sampaga for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia junior flyweight title.
Podot, Gentallan's manager, has been preparing Gentallan for this big opportunity. They are not rushing his career but are carefully planning their program until his big break. Gentallan himself sees this fight as one of his chances to enter the world ranking.
Sampaga, with a record of 8-2-1 and 3 KOs, has expressed his intention to win the fight: "I will do my best to win the title," he said.
The undercard fights of the event will also offer thrilling battles. PMI boxers Datu Adam and Freshler Utrera will face off against Jelo Bacalso and Kasty Flores respectively, with both Utrera and Adam winning by stoppage. A pro debut fight between Jericho Acaylar and Joseph Lanat is also scheduled.
Two Cebuano boxers, Jake Malinao and Jed Malinao from Butlig Stable in Minglanilla, Cebu, will also fight in the promotion. Malinao will face Sunny Boy Sinaon, while Malinao's brother, Jed, will fight Marvin Zamora.
The top supporting bout will take place in Cagayan de Oro City, where Richard Laspona will fight Robert Paradero. Laspona, with a record of 8-0 and 5 KOs, will face Paradero, who has a record of 19-11-2 and 13 KOs.
Podot expressed excitement about the collaboration between boxing promoters: "These will be very exciting fights. Collaboration man gud ni sa lainlaing boxing promoters," he said.
The press conference for the event was held at the Philippine Maritime Institute (PMI) Main Campus in Tagbilaran City on September 19, 2025. With the anticipation building, boxing fans are eagerly waiting for the event to unfold.
