On this coming Thursday, the 1st of May, Düsseldorf will host a family-friendly festival and a demonstration as part of the city's International Workers’ Day celebrations.

The demonstration will commence at the DGB House on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, making its way through the city center and culminating at Johannes-Rau-Platz. The route is expected to be filled with approximately 60 groups, initiatives, associations, parties, and trade unions, each setting up their stands.

Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller will deliver a greeting to kick off the demonstration, followed by a moderated panel discussion focusing on topics such as investments, corporate greed, security, education, public services, and the dismantling of the railway system.

After the panel discussion, attendees can look forward to a lively family festival at Johannes-Rau-Platz. The event will offer various activities for everyone, including a presentation by the DGB Youth under the motto: "STAND UP - WITH US FOR US".

Jacques Tilly's fish-themed float will be a highlight of the festival, adding a touch of whimsy to the proceedings. The Acoustic Soulmates will provide musical entertainment, ensuring a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere.

Food will be available throughout the festival, and the family festival will run from 1 PM to 4 PM. Following the stage program, Düsseldorf DGB City Association Chair Sigrid Wolf will welcome everyone to the festival.
